Nov 7, 2012 · Infrared are best for heat and night time viewing, but you can also use Moonlight Blue incandescent bulbs as well. Neither will disrupt the day/night cycle even though the frog can see the light it is not the same as actual daylight basking bulbs. Like Trevor said above Black lights are bad for the animal in the long run.

Jan 30, 2017 · But surprisingly many bulbs marketed for home and office use do give off UVb in as decent amounts as the specialty bulbs. But without knowing which you are getting you just can't be sure because some coatings block the UV entirely. You'd think that for home and office use you'd want the UV blocked, but evidently there is some reason they don't.

Dec 7, 2012 · no uv lighting needed. bulbs in the 6500k color temperature range. actually, between 5000k and 7500k will do just fine. pretty much any bulb made for a planted fish tank or hydroponics growing set up will work wonderfully.

Aug 28, 2014 · Amazonian Milk frogs (Trachycephalus recinifitrix) raised under UV light grew faster and stronger than other frogs. Many frogs can be raised and bred without UV light and still thrive. Providing a 2.0 UV bulb would be appropriate for an 18” tall terrarium. Be sure to replace the bulbs every 6 months because the UV bulbs will weaken overtime.

Mar 16, 2015 · Uv light is not required and as a matter of fact, is wasted on a dart tank, due to the glass on top, sealing it. UVB is a short wave radiation that gets blocked by glass by about 95+%. UVA is a long wave radiation and only fares slightly better penetration through glass.

Aside from that, there's no strict evidence that suggests they need light at all, since they only become active in the dark. If you keep them in a planted vivarium, then it's the plants that determine what kind of light you need.

Jul 16, 2012 · It is an article about UV deficiency and how the correct flouro bulbs are still recommended for amphibians that don't need an extra heat source. It did mention damage was recorded in a few species but most likely due to vitamin imbalances than lighting.
